The University Main Ethics Committee was established in 2011 and comprises three committees, namely the University Ethics Committee for Research Involving Human Subjects (JKEUPM) and the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).
The University Ethics Committee for Research Involving Human Subjects (JKEUPM) plays a role in protecting research participants and ensuring that researchers uphold the fundamental principles in the use of human subjects. The stance and decisions of JKEUPM are based on the principles set out in the Declaration of Helsinki (2008).
As for the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), its primary responsibility is to ensure that the care and use of animals for scientific purposes are conducted in a humane and ethical manner and in accordance with established guidelines.
The Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor serves as the secretariat to ensure the effective management and implementation of these committees.
