The Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) (TNCPI), established on 1 January 2006, serves as the strategic driver in leading the research, innovation, and commercialisation agenda of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). Its establishment underscores the University’s commitment to advancing a high-performance research ecosystem grounded in excellence, innovation, and impact, in line with UPM’s standing as a leading Research University (RU).

As a central leadership entity, the TNCPI Office focuses on policy formulation, governance enhancement, and holistic resource optimisation to ensure the sustainability and competitiveness of research, development, and commercialisation (R&D&C) activities. This role is carried out through strategic synergy with its entities, namely the Administration Division of the TNCPI Office, the Research Management Centre (RMC), Putra Science Park (PSP), and UPM Press, in strengthening value delivery and impact to the University, industry, and society.
